Syria
has been the origin and habitat of the blessed olive tree ever
since the time of Adam (PBUH). In the age of Noah (PBUH) when
his Ark harbored offshore Taurus Mountains north of Syria, the
pigeon of peace that guided him unto the Land of Peace was carrying
an olive branch taken from that territory.

In
the "Olive Oil" book, p. 33 by prof. Palio Biola, who was assigned
by the International Council of Olive Oil to prepare a study on
this invaluable nutrient material, he said in reconfirmation of
Prof. De Vandielle that the habitat of olive tree was verily Syria.
|
According
to the Greek and Roman tales, when Adam (PBUH) passed away, his
son Shith went to Heaven and sought permission from its keeper,
he gave him three seeds to put inside his mouth upon burial. These
seeds were taken out from the trees of good and evil and so did
he as the keeper commanded him. However, those seeds grew to produce
olive tree from the first one, cedar tree from the second one
and cypress tree from the last one.
|
These
tales ensure that the first habitat of this tree had been Syria
and the Greeks transplanted it to other countries of the Mediterranean
Sea. Syria comes currently in the 6th position in terms of olive
oil production and it is anticipated to reach the 2nd or 3rd position
within the next few years.
